Installation Signs of Life

The artistic outcome which was produced during the artist-in-residence period at La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1989 was taken up again and extended with an audio-triple-slide-installation at the University of Twente in 1990. The drawings and mixed media pictureworks were exhibited at gallery Achterom that same year.

Especially at the University of Twente we spent quite some time setting up the installation, since a lot of
programming was involved. Stefan Bezoen wrote the computer program which controled the audio slide-scape in order to synchronise three slide projectors, complemented with the sounds of my walks in the area of La Chaux-de-Fonds. The idea was to let the public immerse in this awesome neo-romantic landscape, as a reminiscence of Casper David Friedrich, and at the same time to keep them in the moment by the modern, technological clicks of the slide show.
